Thaw My Turkey
Whenever you are smoking a turkey, you need to be careful not to freeze your turkey. The most important thing is to let your bird out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature. If the bird was in a deep freeze, it may take up to 2 to 4 hours.
Second, if you want to thaw a frozen turkey in the refrigerator, allow about 24 hours. You can find the best pit boss smokers’ review
Brining My Turkey
This step is crucial in this Thanksgiving adventure and plays a key role in keeping the turkey tender, juicy, and moist during the smoking process, which we call Brining.
This process gives you the traditional salted turkey that requires lean meat. This helps maintain the turkey’s fat content during the brining process, while not allowing it to dry out.
The True Brining Kit simplifies the process in a way that may be best for beginners. A great brining mix and the smoker comes equipped with a bag for pouring turkey seasonings. My favorite is Brining fire & flavor turkey with an All-Natural herb brine seasoning kit
Now it’s time to brine your turkey, bring my provided brine mix ingredients and four cups of water to a boil in a saucepan, pour the now prepared mixture into a bowl of cold water and let it cool for 1 hour per pound. But I would like to marinate it overnight before preparing it so that the ingredients can reach the meat fiber.
Smoking’ the Bird
now what? After your bird is brined, take it out of this cold water, wash it well and dry it well. Coat the top of the turkey with your favorite seasoning kit or the ingredients provided.
When you’re satisfied with the turkey, set your Pit Boss grill to 275°F, then place the turkey on the smoker after all is set. One important thing you need to remember is that you will need a digital meat thermometer to check its temperature.
Now insert the digital meat thermometer into the deepest part of the bird’s breast. The internal temperature of breast and thigh meat is 165°-170°F. Leave to cook till it reaches.
I love the taste of hickory pellet the most and I cooked it in but you can choose apple, pecan, or cherry to your liking and taste.
Served at Dinner Time
Now coming to the easiest part, for which you have put in a lot of hard work and patience. When your bird reaches the desired internal temperature, remove it from the pit boss grill and let it cool for about 20 to 25 minutes. Watch without patience.
Now serve delicious Smoked Turkey to your guests and of course enjoy the smoked bird.
